ESTABLISHMENT OF THE RANAVIRU SEVA AUTHORITY

The Ranaviru Seva Authority (RVSA) was the brainchild of H.E. the President on whose concept it was established under Parliamentary Act No. 54 of 1999. In the establishment of the RVSA H.E. the President took into consideration the need to address the Psychological and Social problems confronted by the family members of more than 27,000 service personnel who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country and the people and those disabled in the process and their dependents. Such problems had to be addressed in relation to their short and long term effects. Simultaneously their welfare also had to be taken care of.

VISION

Honouring the Ranaviru name, symbolizing the Nation’s Veneration and Gratitude towards the heroic deeds of the service personnel.

MISSION

Planning and implementing welfare services towards resolving the Psychological and Social problems confronted by the family members of those Army, Navy, Air Force and Civil Police personnel who gave their lives and went missing in performing their duty to protect the country and the people along with those who were disabled in the process and their families. Planning and implementing these welfare services in a manner ensuring the maintenance of high morale among the serving service personnel is also an integral part of the RVSA mission.
